Maxine Wayda

I am a long term resident of Shasta County. I have a Master of Social Work degree and have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1985. In my role as a Clinical Division Chief at Shasta County Mental Health, I am responsible for the management of mental health services for children and adolescents.

Over the years I have spent working in human services, I have become exceedingly aware of the costs to children, families, communities and public resources when children are unable to enter school healthy, emotionally well-developed, and ready and able to learn.

I have also had experience with aligning and coordinating resources to improve service outcomes. The resources made available through the California Children and Families Act present a tremendous opportunity to coordinate existing resources and develop additional needed supports and services for young children and their families. In my role as a Commissioner, I strive to use my experience to support community leaders in gaining a greater understanding of the value of early intervention supports and services.
