School Sites



Cypress Elementary School
150 Civic Center Drive, Redding, CA  96001

Located near downtown Redding, Cypress School serves approximately 300 students in grades K-5.  The Cypress state preschool serves approximately 40 children, ages 4-5 years old.

Family Advocate: Stacy Watson, 530-225-4915

Activities: Any family with a child under age five living in the Cypress Elementary School or Juniper Academy neighborhoods may receive the benefits of a First 5 Shasta School Readiness Family Advocate FREE of charge. The Cypress family advocate helps families connect to on-campus and community resources. These include quality child care or services for children with special health or developmental needs. Parent education and support activities, infant/toddler playgrounds, and child recreation activities are offered in collaboration with nearby Juniper Academy. The family advocate provides developmental, hearing, and vision screenings to children under five. Parents as Teachers home visiting or strengths-based case management services are also available.



Juniper Academy

375 Ellis Street, Redding, CA  96001

Located south of downtown Redding, Juniper Academy serves approximately 330 students in grades K-8.  The Juniper State Preschool serves approximately 40 children, ages 4-5 years old.  In addition, a year-round child care center is available for children ages 3-5 years old.  An Early Head Start center serves children from infancy through age 3.

Activities: Any family with a child under age five living in the Juniper Academy or Cypress Elementary School neighborhoods may receive the benefits of a First 5 Shasta School Readiness Family Advocate FREE of charge. The Juniper Academy family advocate helps families connect to on-campus and community resources such as quality child care or services for children with special health or developmental needs. Parent education and support activities, infant/toddler playgrous, and child recreation activities are offered in collaboration with nearby Cypress Elementary School. The family advocate provides developmental, hearing, and vision screening to children under five. Strengths-based case management or Parents as Teachers home visiting are also available to families.



Rother Elementary School

795 Hartnell Avenue, Redding, CA 96002

Located in east Redding, Rother Elementary School serves approximately 340students in grades K-5.  The Rother State Preschool serves children ages 4-5 years old.  In addition, Rother provides a classroom for preschool students who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Activities: Any family with a child under age five living in the Rother Elementary School neighborhood may receive the benefits of a First 5 Shasta School Readiness Family Advocate FREE of charge. The Rother Elementary School family advocates help families connect to on-campus and community resources such as quality child care or services for children with special health or developmental needs. Parent education and support activities, "Read-N-Play" emerging and early literacy groups, and child recreation activities are offered throughout the school year to families living in the Rother attendance area. The family advocate provides developmental, hearing, and vision screenings to children under five. Home visiting services utilizing the evidence-based Parents as Teachers curriculum is also available to families with children in the prenatal stage to age 3.



Happy Valley Primary School

16300 Cloverdale Road, Anderson, CA 96007

Located west of Anderson, Happy Valley Primary School serves approximately 325 students in grades K-4.  Happy Valley Children's Center serves children ages 4-5 years old and there is a Head Start center on campus.

School Readiness Coordinator: Sandi Garcia, 530-357-4146

Activities: Any family with a child under age five living in the Happy Valley Primary School neighborhood may receive the benefits of a First 5 Shasta School Readiness Family Advocate FREE of charge. The Happy Valley School Readiness Coordinator arranges a variety of parent education and support activities on a range of topics for families in the Happy Valley Primary School attendance area. Music classes and other child recreation activities are offered on-campus and field trips to local community venues are arranged. The School Readiness Coordinator provides assistance to families with children under the age of five in obtaining quality child care and arranages developmental, hearing, and vision screenings. A Kindergarten Transition camp is offered in the summer months.
