Amy Pendergast

Appointed: July 2004
Amy has worked as a Community Education Specialist with Shasta County Public Health since 1997. Her previous professional experience includes research on gestational weight gain and teaching preschool children in Taiwan. She holds a Master of Public Health degree in Health Education and Promotion and a bachelor's degree in business and health education. She has been a Certified Health Education Specialist since 1996 and completed the yearlong Women's Health Leadership program in January 2000.
Amy says becoming a parent has served to further increase her commitment to young children. She expresses a "strong interest in making the community a great place for children - a place with strong families, where children are valued and nurtured." She identifies serving on First 5 Shasta's Advisory Committee as an opportunity to serve young children and families in a comprehensive way - looking at health, child care, early education, literacy and other issues as a whole rather than each issue in isolation.
